On January 25, 2019, Baidu adjusts its showing result, by replacing media name instead of its URL.

Here’s the sample of one indexing in result, as “artificial intelligence” is searched on Baidu.

This get users totally confused of what exactly the media page will be, since we used to identify one page by its unique URL.

The purpose of Baidu change is that Baidu intends to mix media sites with Baidu own media (百家号), in order to keep search traffic in its Baidu family sites and media.

Later last year, Baidu encouraged websites to set up branch on Baidu, and gave extra metrics to the kind site (百家号) in algorithm.

Baidu is now fighting for search traffic with indexing media websites. From this point, is Baidu still a search engine in China?
